Elena Baltacha Dies of Liver Cancer at the Age of 30



Two months ago Elena Baltacha revealed to the world at large that she was suffering from liver cancer. She said: 'I have recently been diagnosed with cancer of the liver. I'm undergoing treatment and fighting this illness with everything I have.'

Elena Blatacha died from the ravaging disease on Sunday. In a statement released on behalf of her family, her agent Mr Severino said: 'It is with deepest sadness that we bring you the following news - Elena Baltacha died in the early hours of Sunday 4 May of liver cancer. She was 30 years old.'

She was a British tennis star who possessed a lot of power and prowess. She had taken an oath to battle the deadly ailment with every ounce of her strength.

'Elena, who always went by her nickname Bally, was diagnosed with liver cancer in mid-January 2014, two months after retiring from professional tennis and just a few weeks after marrying Nino Severino, her long-time coach and partner.'

Yet, while disease can be cured, fate is incurable. Cancer took this lively blonde sports celebrity’s life at the tender age of 30. Sources close to her confirmed that she had died and as for her husband, he was absolutely grief-stricken.

His wife, who was known by the moniker Bally, had left him bereft of all he ever possessed. He is a sad man now. Her husband Nino Severino was also her coach and married her just after her retirement from professional tennis.

Mr Severino added: 'We are heartbroken beyond words at the loss of our beautiful, talented and determined Bally. She was an amazing person and she touched so many people with her inspirational spirit, her warmth and her kindness.'
